THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says it is saddened by the behaviour on the unidentified soccer fan who breached all security protocols to attack Nkana coach Manfred Chabinga during a week five Super Division match at Nkoloma Stadium.

FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala said the incident is particularly saddening coming on the day fans made a return to the terraces after eight months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement issued by FAZ Communications Manager Sydney Mungala, Kashala said the association regretted what happened at Nkoloma Stadium after fighting hard for fans to return to stadia. Fans had been banned because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have noted with concern the events surrounding the FAZ/MTN Week five fixture between Green Buffaloes and Nkana at Nkoloma Stadium.
“We are very disappointed with the scenes we witnessed at Nkoloma Stadium. We are going to deal sternly with the parties involved,” Kashala said. “We fought so hard to get fans back into the stadia and will not allow hooliganism ruin our desire to have spectators at matches.”
He said the fan who breached security protocols will be found and handed to police for criminal trespass.
Kashala said Green Buffaloes Football Club and Nkana Football Club will be summoned for possible sanctions over inadequate security and violent conduct, respectively.
He said fans should also be mindful that any indiscretions could attract a ban.
Green Buffaloes walloped Nkana 5-0 on Wednesday in the Week Five tie that marked the return of spectators after government gave the greenlight for their return.
