We were lucky, say Buffaloes

By MIYOBA MICHAEL
GREEN Buffaloes coach Bilton Musonda said his team was luck to survive the dominance of Lusaka Dynamos who hit the post twice as the two teams recorded a goalless draw in a Mid-week-7 fixture at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.

Former Napsa Stars striker Collins Sikombe hit the cross bar twice in both halves for Lusaka Dynamos who were the better team against Buffaloes on Wednesday.
And speaking after holding on to maintain their unbeaten record, Musonda said a draw was a better result for the Zambia Army side who moved to fourth position on the 18-team Super Division table with nine points.
“They say in football there is no luck but we were lucky because we had seen Lusaka Dynamos hitting the post twice because if the balls had gone in, we would have lost 2-0,” Musonda said.
“It was a tough game and getting a point from such a game is good and it is a plus to the team because we were playing a team that has quality players and if you can contain such a team then, we are also a good side.”
Musonda said Buffaloes would go back to the training field to work on the team’s front line after it missed some chances in the game against Lusaka Dynamos.
He said it is worrying that Buffaloes who managed to beat champions Nkana recorded six draws from the seven games played so far.
Musonda however noted that the league is becoming tougher with teams preparing adequately for each and every game.
“It is worrying but the league is becoming tougher and tougher every team is preparing adequately. If you look at Lusaka Dynamos, it is a completely different team compared to the team of last season.
“Technically they have brought in a senior coach and on the pitch they have good quality players so every team has prepared for this season and even if we are going with draws its okay, better than losing because if you lose you lose all the points,” Musonda said.
“Sometimes you win the league with one point sometimes you qualify for the ABSA Cup with one point so a draw is not a bad result.”
